If you feel as though you are lacking in some essential life skills as an adult, know you are not alone. I recently came across this article about 12 basic life skills every kid should know by High School. For every single one of those 12 basic life skills I can think of someone I personally know, who as an adult, are struggling in those departments. Many of whom, are struggling in multiple areas on that short list.
Developing Skills as an Adult is Important
If you are an individual who fits in the same category mentioned above, then you are in the right place!
TAoA Wants to Help
The Act of Adulting wants to help streamline the information you need for success. The idea here is to share specific steps, shortcuts, and resources that will give you more time to use. More time to apply toward the lifestyle you want. TAoA will help outline the basics of life skills on personal finances, relationships, career, travel, and more. To paint a picture about the importance of your time, check out the breakdown of a typical set of weekly hours.
A week holds only 168 hours
- 56 of those are spent sleeping (if you clock in 8 hours a night, which may not be a norm for you)
- 50 hours for full time job (40 for work, 1 hour a day for commute, 1 hour a day for lunch)
- Leaving only 6 hours a day during the week and 16 hours a day on the weekend.
- Those left over hours don’t include time for basic hygiene, meals outside of lunch at work, grocery shopping, completing chores, and other responsibilities.
Time is of the essence and it is your most valuable resource. Therefore, you should make smart decisions on how you utilize your time.
